This valuable Prasad is not on sale in the Sri Venkateswara Temple.More than 60,000 devotees visit the Tirupati temple every day. The devotees were not affected by this controversy and they ate 14 lakh laddus in 4 days.
Hyderabad: The controversy over the alleged use of animal fat in Tirupati’s laddus has sparked political controversy from Andhra Pradesh to the entire country. But this has not affected the sale of the precious prasad at the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, which is visited by more than 60,000 devotees every day. After the Lado Prasad controversy, its sales are increasing day by day. This is the reason why the controversy has not affected the devotees and they have eaten 14 lakh laddus in 4 days.
According to the temple administration, more than 1.4 lakh tirupati laddus have been sold in four days. A total of 3.59 lakh laddus were sold on 19 September, 3.17 lakh on 20 September, 3.67 lakh on 21 September and 3.60 lakh on 22 September. The sales figure equates to an average of 3.50 lakh lidos per day. When devotees were asked about the controversy, devotee Venkateswara Rao replied that our faith is so strong that it cannot be shaken, reports NDTV.
What is included in Prasad?
Many devotees also said that the Tirupati Laddu controversy is now a thing of the past. More than 3 lakh laddus are made daily in the temple. Pilgrims to the temple buy ladoos in large quantities, often taking them back from the temple to give to friends and relatives. The ingredients of Tirupati Ladoo include Bengal gram, cow ghee, sugar, cashews, raisins and almonds. 15000 kg of cow’s ghee is used daily to make laddoos.
Where did the conflict begin?
This comes after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the ghee used to make laddoos in Tirupati during the previous YSRCP government contained animal fat. The Tirupati temple has become the center of a major controversy. The state government has constituted a special investigation team to probe the matter. Former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, whose party lost state elections this year, has accused the ruling TDP of ‘politicizing religious issues’.
He said that the tender process is conducted every six months and the eligibility criteria has not changed for decades. Suppliers have to provide NABL certificate and product quality certificate. TTD collects ghee samples and only products passing certification are used. TDP is doing politics on religious issues. He alleged that Naidu was a corrupt person and a habitual liar.
