Ranchi 12 policemen who were converted from constable to sub-inspector after showing their bravery in the encounter against naxalites have been promoted again as constable. The Personnel Department of Jharkhand Police has issued an order in this regard. Thirteen Jharkhand Police personnel who displayed courage and bravery in an encounter with militants in Samdiga district of Jharkhand were given out-of-period promotions. One was sub-inspector while one got the benefit of promotion from sub-inspector to inspector. Now after the order of Jharkhand High Court, all have been made constables again.
In fact, Arun Kumar, a police officer posted in Samdiga District Force, filed a petition in the Jharkhand High Court. Through the petition, he had stated that at the time of promotion, his colleagues were given promotions but they were removed. After hearing the case, the Jharkhand High Court issued the order and asked the government to withdraw its order. The court said that promotion for gallantry cannot be given outside the period.
