Lahore: The accused who hunted and skinned wild wolves in Khuzdar district of Balochistan could not be identified. Assistant Conservator Wildlife Khuzdar submitted the report to the higher authorities.
A copy of the report obtained by Express News said that the video footage of the wolves being hunted and skinned has been carefully reviewed, however due to the indistinctness of the video footage, none of the individuals could be identified.
It should be noted that recently, videos of wild wolves being hunted and skinned in the suburbs of Khuzdar were exposed, on which organizations active for the protection of wild life including WWF and Wildlife Foundation Pakistan expressed concern and demanded an investigation from the authorities. what was
Assistant Conservator Wildlife Khuzdar says that the help of local people has been sought to identify the accused but so far there has been no success, the quality of the video is very poor and the faces and other distinguishing features of the people are not decipherable.
According to the report, Takari Ghulam Nabi Muhammad Hosni, the head of the local communities, has been the owner of the cooperative and Sanjdev Pahari. They have been unable to identify any possible suspects but continue to deny any wolf hunting in the area.
The report states that the people of this region are facing significant economic challenges. They depend heavily on cattle rearing as their primary means of livelihood. Due to the predation of their livestock by wolves, they hunt these animals to protect their livestock and secure their means of survival.
The report also admitted that the wildlife wing in Khuzdar is currently functioning without budget, vehicles, motorcycles, staff uniform or office.
Due to lack of operational budget, the Assistant Conservator Wildlife Khuzdar and staff have to spend their full salaries to meet the costs associated with wildlife crime investigations and court hearings which are unaffordable.
Moreover, all the wildlife development projects in Khuzdar are being managed by the forest department, which is causing difficulties in wildlife conservation. Facilities and funds should be provided to wildlife staff for the protection and conservation of wildlife in the area.
