In his book, Mike Reiss offers decades-old insights, including his look at Elizabeth Taylor's brief but crucial role as the voice of Maggie in 1992. Taylor was brought in to record one line. Actually, to be more specific, she was brought in to record one word: “Daddy.” This, of course, was in the context of a child speaking to her father for the first time, and therefore had to be as sweet and heartwarming as possible. Unfortunately, Taylor wasn't initially able to distinguish between this more wholesome approach and the more, shall we say, charming version. As Reiss writes:

“Liz caused the biggest stir of any guest on the show. Three hundred people crammed into our tiny studio to record her one-word part, 'Daddy'. She had to sing it six times because, as you can imagine, it was getting too sexy. We had to remind her that she was a child talking to her father, not a man trying to charm him.”

Of course, Taylor is a professional performer, and the writers of “The Simpsons” were clearly not willing to ruin one of Liz Taylor's lines by making Maggie look inappropriately sexy, the line was eventually recorded to the satisfaction of the production teams – but not before Taylor took the opportunity to impress one of the three hundred people present in the studio that day…
