A case of negligence has been registered, what did the Delhi Police say?
In their statement, Delhi Police said – bodies of a woman and a child were found in a drain near CNG pump, Ghazipur Paper Market, Golden Place in Ghazipur police station. When ASI Ravi reached the spot, he found that both had already been sent to LBS Hospital. Doctors declared Tanuja Bisht (23) and her son Priyanshu (3) dead. Both were returning home when Priyansh fell into an open drain. The child could not see the pit due to water in the surrounding area. Tanuja also fell into the drain trying to save the child. An FIR of death due to negligence is being registered.
How did the accident happen?
It is said that Govind’s wife Tanuja, 22, a resident of Prakash Nagar in Khoda police station area, was coming from the weekly market in Ghazipur with her three-year-old son Priyanshu. When the rain stopped, she went out for shopping. While crossing the road outside the Khoda area, she fell into a drain under construction in front of Gazipur police station in Delhi along with the child. Several feet of water flooded the road due to heavy rain. Due to which the accident occurred due to lack of understanding of the road and the drain. It is believed so.
Street vendors gave information.
However, some street vendors saw the woman fall and immediately reported the accident to UP 112. ACP Indirapuram Swatantra Kumar Singh said that the information was received around 8.30 pm. SHO Khoda Anand Prakash Mishra along with the team reached the spot. The fire brigade’s disaster unit was also called to the spot with equipment. A rescue operation was immediately started with the help of Khoda Makanpur Municipal Council employees.
Released after hard work.
The drain in which the mother and son fell is being built in Delhi. His work is not done yet. According to the police, the drain is about 15 feet deep and six feet wide. Some parts of the drain were being slabbed and some parts were left open. Due to heavy rain, the drain was filled with water and the mother and son fell into the drain while passing through the open part. Due to the rain, the fire brigade team faced severe difficulties in the rescue operation. Firefighters investigated by breaking the drain wall with a bulldozer. Both were recovered about 100 meters away from the crime scene.
The woman shopkeeper narrowly escaped trying to save him.
Many shopkeepers were standing in Khoda right in front of the accident site. Seeing the woman and her son going towards the open space in the drain, the fruit seller shouted loudly to save the two. However, the mother and son did not hear the sound. The lady shopkeeper quickly ran away. He also tried to save the mother and son when they fell into the drain, but they both got swept away. Meanwhile, the woman also saved herself from falling into the drain. Despite immediate notification of the accident, no team from Delhi reached the spot.
Khoda and Ghaziabad also have deadly drains.
Just like the accident in Delhi, Khoda area and Ghaziabad also have many deadly drains. Many children have lost their lives due to these drains often during the monsoon. Earlier, a child drowned in a drain in Vijayanagar. Similarly, in Aman Colony, two children died consecutively for two years. The municipal corporation claims to clean the drains every year but the reality of cleaning the drains comes out in the rainy season. Due to lack of sanitation, the water gets flooded to such an extent that accidents occur.
There were many difficulties in the rescue
ACP Indirapuram Sutantra Kumar Singh said that the woman and the child had fallen into a drain in Delhi. Police and fire brigade teams had to work hard. Due to the rain, there were many obstacles in the rescue operation. Both of them were recovered from the drain around 11 pm. When they were taken to the hospital, the doctors declared the mother and son dead. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Further investigation will be done based on his report.
