Railway Minister Ashwini Vishnu clarified that the Vande Bharat train services have been launched without making any changes to the existing train services.
Vande Bharat: Indian Railways has started the new Vande Bharat train service without changing the existing trains, Railway Minister Ashwini Vishnu said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Friday. The statement was made in response to questions from MPCV Shanmugam of AIADMK, in which he asked whether Vande Bharat trains would replace Rajdhani and other superfast trains.

Vishnu clarified that the Vande Bharat train services have been launched without any change in the existing services. He informed that a total of 102 Vande Bharat train services are being operated in Indian Railways till July 29, 2024. These trains mainly run to connect states with Broad Gauge (BG) electrical networks. Along with this, these chair car variant trains are currently serving passengers over a distance of 760 km.

Recently the Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat service was launched on Wednesday. The demand for Vande Bharat on the Ernakulam-Bangalore route has been going on for a long time. The service will run three days a week till August 25. The train will depart from Ernakulam on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and from Bengaluru on Thursday, Saturday and Monday.

Talking about the time table of Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat train, the train will depart from Ernakulam at 12:50 PM and reach Bengaluru Cantonment Station at 10:00 PM. On the return journey, the train will leave Bengaluru Cantonment at 5:30 AM the next day and reach Ernakulam at 2:20 PM. This route includes stops at ten stations.
Vande Bharat was demanded on the Ernakulam-Bangalore route.
This train has been launched in view of high passenger demand on Bengaluru-Ernakalam route. The launch of Vande Bharat train is a relief news for the passengers of this route. However, some passengers have expressed concerns about the day’s timetable. However, Southern Railway has assured that the introduction of sleepers in Vande Bharat trains will also solve these problems.
