Police arrested a 30-year-old accused in East Delhi’s Shakarpur area on Tuesday. He is alleged to have been recording everything from the bedroom to the bathroom of the rented girl in his house with a hidden camera. The deceased was preparing for civil services and was living here for the past few months. Before leaving the city, he had given the keys to the landlord’s son Karan.

The matter came to light when the victim saw suspicious activity on his WhatsApp. DCP Apoorva Gupta said, ‘They found that his WhatsApp account was logged on an unknown laptop. He immediately logged out of the device. When he got suspicious, he searched the house. Then he found a hidden camera in the bathroom bulb holder. He then called PCR on Monday. When the police team searched the house, another camera was found in the bulb holder of the bedroom.

The victim told the police that whenever she went out of town, she would give the keys to Karan, who lives on another floor in the same building. During interrogation, Karan admitted that he committed the crime 3 months ago when the tenant had visited his house in UP. Seizing the opportunity, he bought three spy cameras. One was installed in the bathroom and the other in the bedroom.

These cameras could not be operated online. The video was stored in the memory card installed in it. The victim said that he often asked for the key in the name of repairing the room so that he could transfer the videos to his laptop. A third camera and two laptops were also recovered during the investigation. He used to save recorded videos in these laptops.

The police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of BNS and arrested the accused. Kiran is also a graduate and was preparing for competitive exams for the past seven years. According to police, he has no criminal history.
