Liverpool have investigated the situation surrounding Barcelona midfielder Gavi. According to Catalan outlet Nacional, the Reds are looking to bring the 20-year-old to Anfield.
He appears to have fallen down the pecking order at the Camp Nou under Hansi Flick. The German seems to prefer teenagers Marc Casado and Pedri in the double pivot, turning Gavi into a mostly used option off the bench. He has made 12 appearances this season but has only received 241 minutes of action.
Thus, he has emerged as a potential transfer option for several clubs, including Liverpool. His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026. The report states that while there have been no talks between the player and the club on extending his stay, he could get a chance to get out on a relatively cheap deal.
Gavi intends to stay at Barcelona in hopes of impressing the manager and fighting for his place. However, if he decides to depart, the Reds are keen to add him to the squad. The report suggests that manager Arne Slot values him highly and the club could offer him a higher salary to make him one of the most valuable players.
The 20-year-old will join a talented midfield that includes the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis McAllister and Curtis Jones.
Barcelona interested in Liverpool star but hope to stay and renew

Barcelona are keeping an eye on Liverpool winger Luis Diaz. According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, La Blaugrana are keen to add the 27-year-old attacker to their ranks.
However, the Colombian is expected to stay at Anfield. His current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027, but the Reds are looking to sign him to an extension soon.
The contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are likely to be high priorities for Liverpool as they are set to become free agents in the upcoming summer. After this, they could try to tie down the Colombian who has been a key part of Arne Slot’s attack this season.
Díaz has been used on both the left wing and up top, scoring nine goals and making three assists in 22 games in all competitions.
He could be an important contribution to a Barcelona team that was pursuing Nico Williams to play on the left side of their attack. While Raphinha has proven to be a revelation under Hansi Flick, the addition of another experienced attacker could be useful for the Blaugrana.
