The Delhi government has announced to increase monthly financing for senior citizens. Under this, relief for people aged 60 to 69 has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2500, while people over 70 years will get Rs 3,000 a month.

In addition, scheduled caste (SC), Schedule tribes (ST) and senior citizens of the minority communities will receive an additional Rs 500 per month. The Chief Minister said that a total of Rs 3,227 crore has been allocated for these schemes.

On November 5, 2024, the common AADMI party’s then government gave a gift to the elders here. The Delhi government then launched a Citizens Pension Scheme for senior citizens. Under this scheme, all the streams of over 60 years had to take pensions. Under the scheme, senior citizens of 60 to 69 will get Rs 2,000 a month, while senior citizens over 69 will get Rs 2,500. In addition, additional benefits will be given to SC/ST and minority communities. On the first day, more than 10,000 applications were received for the scheme. The government opened the slot for a total of 80,000 new registrations under the scheme.
Who can get old age pensions in Delhi?
- The applicant should be 60 years of age or older.
- The applicant has been based in Delhi for at least five years.
- Delhi’s address should be a Aadhaar card.
- The family’s annual income should be 1 million or less.
- The applicant should not take advantage of any other scheme of the state or the central government.
- The applicant should not receive any other pensions or financial support from the central or state government.
- Delhi can submit applications through the E -District Portal.
