Amrit Bharat Express, earlier being called Vande Sadharan, has Vande Bharat style aerodynamically designed locomotives in terms of looks.However, unlike Vande Bharat trains, the Amrit Bharat Express is loco-hauled.
The new Amrit Bharat Express train is an eye-catching sight in hues of orange and grey. It has a WAP5 locomotive with 6,000 HP at each end of the train to allow for the “push-pull” operation of the train. The biggest benefit of a push-pull train is faster acceleration which results in reduced travel time.

Amrit Bharat Express trains will have 22 coaches with a composition of 8 general second class coaches for unreserved passengers, 12 second class 3-tier sleeper coaches and two guard compartments. There will be space for differently abled passengers and ladies in another, railway sources told TOI.

The Amrit Bharat trains have been manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. In an earlier interaction with TOI, ICF GM BG Mallya had said that the Amrit Bharat trains will make train travel experience for non-AC passengers more comfortable. He also highlighted the sealed gangways and better toilet facilities in the Amrit Bharat Express.

PM Modi is expected to flag off two Amrit Bharat Express trains on December 30. The first Amrit Bharat Express train is expected to run from Ayodhya in UP to Darbhanga in Bihar, as reported by TOI earlier. This is keeping in mind the significance of the two places associated with Lord Rama and goddess Sita.
The second Amrit Bharat Express train is likely to run on the Bengaluru to Malda route in South India.
