Srinagar. An army vehicle carrying soldiers fell into a ditch near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Mendhar. Sources said that so far five bodies have been recovered and many security personnel traveling in the vehicle are seriously injured.
This Indian Army vehicle fell into a 150-feet deep ditch at Mendhar in Poonch. A total of 18 soldiers were on this vehicle, out of which 6 soldiers were seriously injured. According to reports, all these soldiers belonged to the 11 Maratha Regiment, which was moving towards the Line of Control (LoC). The army has started a rescue operation to search for the soldiers.
An army officer said that an Indian army vehicle carrying around 18 soldiers fell into a 150-feet deep ravine in Bilnoi area of Poonch district. Many soldiers have been injured. Rescue operation is going on.
The cause of this accident is currently unknown. However, it is believed that the driver lost control at a bend in the road. Sources say that there is no possibility of any terrorist incident behind it. He said that our post was about 130 meters away from the incident site and the backup vehicle was barely 40 meters away.
Several such accidents have come to light in recent days in Jammu and Kashmir. Just on December 15, two army personnel were injured when a vehicle skidded off the road on the Zadikoshi-Griz road in Graz.
