An incident of firing has come to light in Sopore of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The shots were fired when a joint search operation was underway by the army. A terrorist is likely to be hiding in Gujjar Petti Jalora in Sopore and it is being reported that two terrorists have been cornered. 22 RR, 179 Battalion of CRPF and a police team reached Sopore in Baramulla district for the search operation.
After the firing, the area has been cordoned off and an encounter has started between the terrorists and the army. According to officials, there is no news of any casualty in this operation yet.
The operation of the security forces against the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir is ongoing. Meanwhile, three terrorists involved in the grenade attack on 163 Territorial Army on January 7 were arrested on January 12. Police reportedly recovered one hand grenade, one AK series rifle, one pistol, 250 live AK rounds and 21 live pistol rounds from the arrested terrorists.
Earlier on the evening of December 21, two accomplices of the terrorists were arrested in Dingyocha area of Sopore. He was arrested from Yarbag in Rafiabad area of Sopore. Sources had then said that one pistol, five 9 mm rounds, two hand grenades and Rs 10,600 in cash were recovered from them.
