Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: More than a decade after the formation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Sunita Kejriwal has kept a low profile. But after her husband's arrest, she has hit the headlines on more than one occasion, giving messages to Arvind Kejriwal's supporters.
Haryana assembly elections are going to be held this year and Sunita Kejriwal is going to launch the 'Kejriwal Ki Guarantee' program on July 20 and she will reach Panchkula to do it. The Aam Aadmi Party is trying to gain a foothold in Haryana, where elections are due later this year. In a way, the party had projected Sunita Kejriwal as its star campaigner in the Lok Sabha elections.
AAP ready to contest election on 90 seats
Kejriwal's bail application is pending till the time of writing. So Sunita will take the 'guarantee' of AAP's national coordinator to the people of Haryana. Their focus will be on 'change' through which they will target not only the BJP but also the Congress. Speaking to Times of India, Aam Aadmi Party's Haryana state president and former Rajya Sabha member Sushil Gupta said, “We are ready to contest all 90 seats… We are going to every booth.. We are ready to fight the elections. The work you have done in Delhi and Punjab is coming to the fore.
Sunita said, it will be Arvind Kejriwal's guarantee, not Modi's hollow guarantee.
Sunita said that like BJP and Congress, we do not make promises, we give guarantees. This will be Arvind Kejriwal's guarantee, not Modi's empty guarantee. Asked if these guarantees would also include that Haryana would get water from the SYL (Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal), Gupta said, Haryana should get water. Every state should get water. Water distribution is the task of the Central Government and the Prime Minister. AAP and Congress contested the Lok Sabha elections in alliance in Haryana and Delhi but are not contesting the Haryana assembly elections together. (Also input from news agency language)
