The border of Afghanistan was raided in Mohammand and Dera Ismail Khan districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pakistan’s security forces raided the two hideouts used by an armed group in the north -west, triggering the gun battle, killing at least two soldiers and nine fighters of the group, saying the army says.
The raids were held on Saturday in Mohammand and Dera Ismail Khan districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which are in the border of Afghanistan.
According to local police, the fighters belonged to Tehrak-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Pakistani Taliban.
Illegal TTP is a separate group, but an ally of the Afghan Taliban, which resumed power in neighboring Afghanistan in August 2021 as the United States and other NATO soldiers were in the final stages of return from the country 20 years after the war.
Many TTP leaders and fighters have found sanctuaries and have been living openly in Afghanistan since the Taliban acquisition, which also hugged the Pakistani Taliban.
In a separate incident on Saturday, the fighters reduced security forces in Kurram district of north -western Pakistan, which is on the border of Afghanistan, the local police said. The authorities have not yet confirmed any casualties in that attack.
Pakistan’s army is engaged in an ongoing campaign in Kurram, an area that has seen years of violence between Sunni and Shia Muslim communities. Hundreds of people have been killed in fighting between armed groups, increasing tension in the region.
Since November, Kuram is isolated after blocking the major roads after the sectist violence to Kuram. The closure has reduced a severe decrease in medicine and food, deepening the humanitarian crisis.
In addition, on Saturday, a bomb blast occurred outside a mosque in the north -western city of Peshawar, a Muslim leader was killed, the local police said. It was not clear who was behind the attack, and an investigation was being done.
