NEW DELHI: BJP kept up its mocking of Congress‘ crowdfunding effort by juxtaposing it against the recent recovery of a huge cash haul from the opposition party’s MP and suggesting that the intiative to access funds from people was only an effort to launder the black money by making it appear as contributions from people.
The ruling party released a clip from the 1984 movie ‘Inquilaab’ of a conversation between two characters over using black money to buy votes and passing it on as donation by well-wishers.
In the conversation were superstar Amitabh Bachchan and actor Kader Khan, with the latter while showing suitcases filled with cash saying that the donations Bachchan will get during the campaign will be added to the black money and the party will announce that these were contributions from the public. The cash filled suitcases were used as a reference to the cash seizures from Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu by BJP.
The official X (formerly Twitter) handle of BJP shared it with the caption: “The story and characters in this clip are not imaginary. Resemblance with Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu’s party’s call to seek crowdfunding is intended…”
