So, not only was a transatlantic passenger stuck in the ceiling of a Boeing plane flying to Uruguay earlier this week, but a child was as well.
Traveler Dr. Cecilia Laguzzi She said it's an image she'll never forget … she found her 2-year-old son trapped in the overhead deck of Air Europa flight UX045 from Madrid to Uruguay on Monday … as the plane was hit by a violent storm.
Laguzzi told “GMA” she felt like she was in free fall for about 6 or 7 seconds before the plane leveled off. After the chaos, she began looking for her children, who were sleeping a few seats away with her husband, but her youngest child was missing.
She frantically searched for him — but then someone noticed her panic and pointed to the ceiling and said, “Well, he's up there.” That's when she found her son trapped in the overhead compartment, crying and obviously terrified.
Luckily, some of the plastic had broken off of the box, so she and her husband were able to quickly retrieve it. She said her son seemed fine, and overall, her family was a little bruised but otherwise fine.

The plane was diverted to Brazil's Rio Grande do Norte state and the injured passengers were treated at a local hospital.
