Bournemouth moved just three points off the Champions League places after David Brooks’ 77th-minute volley beat Everton 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium.
Andoni Ierola’s side were struggling to overcome their stubborn but limited opponents when substitute Brooks settled a disappointing contest on the south coast by firing a superb volley into Jordan Pickford’s goal from Milos Kerkez’s pinpoint cross.
Having conceded just seven goals at home this season, it always felt like it would be enough for the fast-moving hosts, who are now unbeaten in a club-record eight Premier League games.
Abdoulaye Doucoure thought he had rescued a point for the visitors when he headed Beto’s knockdown just wide of Mark Travers’ post, but it is now just one win in 11 league games for Sean Dyche’s side.
The result moves Bournemouth to 33 points – just three points off the top four, while Everton remain in 16th, just two points above the relegation zone.
