It said, “You cannot stay in the state of Tamil Nadu, you have to go out…tell us which is the most convenient state.”
The court issued notice on Stalin’s request to consolidate the cases registered against him in various states.
In March, the apex court had criticised him for “misusing” his right to freedom of expression when he approached the court seeking clubbing of FIRs lodged against him in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka over his controversial statements.
“You abuse your right under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution. You abuse your right under Article 25. Now you are exercising your right under Article 32 (to file a petition in the Supreme Court)? Don’t you know what will be the consequences of what you said? You are not a common man. You are a minister. You should know the consequences,” the bench said.
The DMK leader had compared ‘Sanatana Dharma’ to ‘malaria’ and ‘dengue’ and advocated its eradication on the ground that it was rooted in the caste system and discrimination.
