New Delhi: The Champions Trophy Group B game between Australia and South Africa was discontinued on Tuesday due to continuous rains in Rawalpindi, in which no game was possible.
The rain started early in the morning and despite reducing a drizzle, the situation deteriorated with bad lights.
This delayed the scheduled toss at 1:30 pm local time.
Continuous rain made water pools on protective cover, which could not be cleared the ground staff, forcing the umpires to give up the competition.

A small number of supporters carrying the South African and Australian flags waited with hopeful, but disappointed without seeing any cricket action.
Both teams secured one point from the abandoned match.
Both Australia and South Africa are in a strong position to reach the semi -finals, winning their previous matches.
The Proteus Group with three points and after a 107-run win over Afghanistan in its initial game with a net run-rate of 2.14.
Australia stood second with similar points but a low-pure run-by of 0.475.
England and Afghanistan will face each other in Lahore on Wednesday.
After losing their first matches, both teams need to win to stay in the tournament.
India and New Zealand have already secured their semi -final spots from Group A.
Meanwhile, defending champions Pakistan and Bangladesh have been removed from the competition.
