The development comes at a time when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has repeatedly raised concerns over the security of the Indian team during ICC tournaments. Champions Trophy The BCCI is waiting for permission from the Indian government for this tour to be held in Pakistan next year. Talking to reporters on Wednesday, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus said, “We are also very concerned about security, but after knowing everything and getting assurance from them about security, we have decided on this tour.”
He said, “Along with this, we have requested the government to provide us a security advisor during the tour, who will remain in touch with them all the time regarding security issues.”
Bangladesh is scheduled to play two Test matches on its tour of Pakistan, the first match will be played in Rawalpindi from July 21 and the second match will be played in Karachi from August 30.
According to Jalal, none of the Bangladesh players have raised any objections to the tour, while teams that have recently toured Pakistan have expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements.
“I think you must have seen in the Asia Cup, the Bangladesh team went to Pakistan and they provided us state-level security and we agreed to go on the tour because they guaranteed us that,” Jalal said.
“You might have seen in recent times that some international teams have also visited Pakistan and they are quite happy with the security provided there.”
