During the March 5 hearing of the House Financial Services Committee, Illinois Congressman’s US representative Scene Castain argued that “Crypto-friendly Rules” threatened US national security.
The MP commented on HR 1716, “Taiwan Conflict Prevention Act 2025”, President Donald Trump and Elon Musk accused of abolishing anti-laundering and financial monitoring laws. Casteten said:
“They are pushing the crypto-friendly rules that will make the source of money inevitably impossible to determine the transfer that are being used to be transferred. I want to explain that 100% attacks of ransomware in the United States are funded by Crypto. ,
“And yet my colleagues used crypto, reducing the oversight and made traffic money easier,” the lawmaker continued.

Surveillance state’s creeping threat
Former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor-lycboard Snowden warned that the NSA was away from capturing the Internet in April 2024.
The whistleblower cited the expansion of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Monitoring Act (FISA) and vague language is used to describe “electronic communication monitoring provider”.
According to Snowden, it can potentially force almost every individual, including office workers or contractors associated with service providers, to act as monitoring agents for the US government.
In November 2024, Snowden played an alarm on centralized blockchain and artificial intelligence, which was calling for decentralization as a bullback against the dangers generated by the concentrations of digital power.
These warnings were echoed in December 2024 by a former military intelligence professional and chief strategy officer David Holtzman of the Naoris decentralized security protocol.
Holtzman argued that the monitoring threats generated by AI are unique in human history and said that decentralization was important to prevent a growing totalitarian danger.
