Buffalo Sabers captain Rasmus Dahlin has been ruled out of Thursday’s game against the visiting Winnipeg Jets due to back spasms, head coach Lindy Ruff announced.
Dahlin, a defenseman, recorded 17:16 of ice time before the Sabres’ 5-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.
“It should be short-lived, but you never know,” Ruff said.
Also on Thursday, the Sabers recalled defenseman Ryan Johnson from Rochester of the American Hockey League.
Dahlin, 24, has 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) and has averaged 24:42 of ice time in 25 games this season.
Signed to an eight-year, $88 million contract, Dahlin has totaled 311 points (72 goals, 239 assists) since being selected by the Sabers with the top overall pick of the 2018 NHL Draft.
Johnson, 23, had five assists in 21 games with the Americans this season.
He has seven assists in 41 career NHL games since being selected by the Sabers with the 31st overall selection of the 2019 NHL Draft.
