Delhi pollution: Centre imposes GRAP 4 restrictions as air quality worsens in Capital | India News – Times of India Trending Global News

New Delhi: Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) imposed stage-IV restrictions on Wednesday hierarchical response action plan (GRAP) After the pollution level in Delhi-NCR reached ‘severe’ category.

The CAQM, in its order, said Delhi’s AQI rose sharply to 386 on Wednesday and is expected to cross the 400 mark as predicted by the IMD, mainly due to dense fog conditions and low temperatures.
Major sanctions under GRAP-4:

  • Restrictions on construction and demolition activities (exception- projects of public importance including railways, airports, bus terminals, defence, and hospitals).
  • Stop operation of stone crushers in the entire NCR.
  • Stop all mining and related activities.
  • Ban on BS-LL petrol and BS-LV diesel light motor vehicles in Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida. (Exception – Persons with Disabilities can drive BS-Petrol/BS-IV Diesel LMVs, provided these are specially adapted for them and are driven exclusively for their use)
  • Ban on plying of diesel powered medium goods vehicles registered to BS-IV standards or below in Delhi. (Except those carrying essential goods or providing essential services)
  • Ban on entry of BS-IV and below diesel powered LCVs (goods carriers) registered outside Delhi into Delhi. (Except those carrying essential goods or providing essential services)
  • Stop entry of truck traffic into Delhi (except trucks carrying essential commodities/providing essential services).
  • However, all LNG/CNG/Electric/BS-VI diesel trucks will be allowed to enter Delhi
