Al Salvador is still a bitcoin country, despite the fact that bitcoin is no longer a legal tender in the country – at least where I am sitting.
Let’s start with some background on the case.
On January 29, 2025, Legislative Assembly voted in Al Salvador Remove the situation of bitcoin as a legal tender,
This means that businesses in the country are no longer to accept bitcoins (not that this rule was strictly implemented, while bitcoin was classified as a legal currency, as far as I know Is; however, I have been told that big businesses operating in the country (eg, McDonald’s, Walmart) can now stop accepting bitcoin as a payment, which can have harmful effects on adoption).
This change occurred about a month after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) A deal with officials in Al Salvador That the following was determined:
- Al Salvador will receive a $ 1.4 billion loan to support the government’s “reform agenda”.
- Risks related to bitcoin should be reduced; Bitcoin acceptance in the private sector should be voluntary, while public sector participation in bitcoin -related activities will be “limited” (bitcoin cannot now be used to pay government loans or taxes)
- The government -built bitcoin wallet, operation for Chivo, will be “unwanted”
Whereas the news of the government of Salvadoran’s IMF resulted in the reports of reversing my policy on bitcoin as a legal tender as a result of a punch, someone who does not have salvadorns and does not live in the country, I can ” Hoon ‘T help, but believes that Al Salvador is still a bitcoin country.
And this feeling has only strengthened on the basis that I have seen bitcoiners in Al Salvador posting on X.
Evelyn Lams, Co-Founder and Education Director Bitcoin BerlinThere is no plan to stop teaching salvadores everyday about a bitcoin spherical economy, bitcoin within the country.
It is just saying it out loud.
Bitcoiners will not stop teaching about bitcoins and make adoption just because bitcoin is no longer a legal tender. This means that we need to push loudly and keep doing what we do

While MI Primer Bitcoin founder John Donny expressed concern about the government of Lalwador, who was withdrawing his policy on bitcoin as a legal currency, he and the sometimes growing team in Mi Primer Bitcoin Are planning to double it.
Good morning with Al Salvador!
Now we are in the day nine because the government has canceled bitcoin as a legal tender, at the request of IMF (effective after 90 days)
This means that at the ground level, independent bitcoin education is now more important than ever before.

Veteran Maximum and Stacey Never publicly voiced any scheme to leave Al Salvador.
And the Bitcoin office of Al Salvador is run by Stacey, still piles bitcoin and helping to run bitcoin education program in the country.

The lesson here is that while the law around bitcoin may have turned into an al -salvador, bitcoiners in the country are rarely inflated.
Because we are bitcoins, which matters the most, is that all the other bitcoins involved in the bitcoin movement in Salvadores and L Salavador continue to move forward with missions.
The IMF may have suffered a shock, but the Bitcoiners in L Salavador are stable in their efforts to adopt wide bitcoins.
Al Salvador is still bitcoin country.
