Suskechewan’s only health line went down over the weekend, while one of Saskatoon hospitals reduced its emergency room hours.
According to Suskechewan Health Authority (SHA), the Healthline was 811 below on Saturday from 4:55 pm to 5:35 pm.
This meant that one needs to call 911, or go to the walk-in clinic or emergency room.
However, an update on SHA’s social media pages said that the services returned at 6:30 pm.

“It is related to around when people do not have access to these emergency services, when they need them,” said Suskechewan’s health critic Vicky Mowat.
Although it may not be a long stretch of time, Mowat said that it indicates a large issue in Suskechewan health care system. He referred to the lack of family doctors as low staff levels, health care burnouts and some main issues.
“This month alone, the emergency room of Saskatoon City Hospital cut hours due to lack of doctor,” Mowat explained. “Beow’s health center had no nursing service for 10 days. The Porpin Plane and Tisdel’s ERS were closed on the same day. ,
SHA said that due to a technical issue with Sasktel, HEALTHLINE 811 was unavailable.
“Low time for Healthline 811 did not affect access to emergency services,” Sha said in a statement.
Suskechewan Health Minister Jeremy Cocrill spoke about the issue on Monday.
“In a world that is increasingly virtual or tele-health based, 811 is now an important part of our health care system,” said Cockrill. “Fortunately the outage was only a few hours. We will work with the ministry to understand this issue and understand what we may have missed. ,
The minister also addressed the short hours of Saskatoon City Hospital, saying that he has met with SHA within last week and is regularly meeting with ER employees to understand the conflicts.
Cockrill said, “The challenges we have with Sanskatoon City Hospital, I hope they will remain for a while because we stabilize the staffing.”
