Lt. Vandana (Vandana Yadav) hails from Malipur village of Samaria Bhandi Panchayat in Samastipur, Bihar. His uncle Jai Prakash Yadav was the former head of the same panchayat. He says that his brother Subedar Major Prakash Yadav is posted in the Assam Rifles and his daughter Vandana was commissioned as a lieutenant after training in Lucknow. His father Jai Prakash Yadav says that this is a matter of pride not only for our family but for the entire panchayat and the area.
