New Delhi: Madras High Court warns on Thursday Tamil Nadu Police DMK to register an FIR against minister K Ponmoodi Or the Forest Minister of the state has to face contempt Objectionable remarks On women. This directed the police to proceed with the investigation in the case.
The court said, “Now the court has taken cognizance of the case. Even if you do not have any complaints, register a case and proceed with investigation,” the court said. The case has been posted on 23 April.
It was demanded by many Bharatiya Janata Party leaders to file a complaint against the leader for making derogatory remarks about women and savism and Vaishnavism during a public event on 6 April.
Following his controversial remarks, the ruling DMK snatched his role as Deputy General Secretary of the party, although he retained his position as a minister.
He also apologized for his comment, called it a “default of decision”. He said, “I honestly apologize for unfair words I used to speak at an event organized by Thanntai Periyar Dravid Kajgam. As someone was in public life for a long time, I am deeply sorry for this lapse in the judgment,” he said last week.
He said, “I immediately felt deeply regretted for unfair comments.
