Jammu Terror Attack: In recent times, incidents of terrorism have increased in Jammu and Kashmir. The way terrorists are attacking and hiding from army personnel is starting to become a pattern and the suspicion of local support is starting to deepen. Army officers also believe that the way the attacks are taking place and the way the terrorists are able to hide in the dense forests, this is not possible without the help of the local people. Recently some people have been arrested in this connection in Jammu. The police have issued a statement in this regard, in which it is said that both of them are accused of supporting terrorist activities. One of them is Liaqat Ali alias Pau and the other is Mol Raj alias Janju. Both of them are residents of Kathua.

According to police, Ali and Raj are residents of Peer Panjal area. Cell phone and internet services are non-existent where the two live. Their villages are near the Badnota range where two patrolling tanks of 22 Garhwali Rifles were attacked on July 8. Five soldiers were martyred in it. When these tanks were passing through a bend on the Machedi-Kandli-Malhar road, the terrorists attacked from a higher ground. This area falls under Machidi forest area. Dense forests, mountain passes and caves provide many safe hiding places for terrorists. The density of this area can be estimated from the fact that despite continuous operations with the help of drones, helicopters and military dogs, the army has not been able to completely control the terrorists.

Before Ali and Raj, the police had arrested four other people. Among them was Showk Ali who used to provide shelter to the terrorists as well as food and Wi-Fi facility. He did all this before the July 15 terror attack in Desa Jungle in Doda district. Four Indian soldiers were martyred in this attack. Earlier on June 19, Jammu Police had arrested 45-year-old Hakme Di. He is accused of helping terrorists attack a bus carrying devotees in Riasi district on June 9. According to the police, he got Rs 6000 in return which was recovered from him. However, the local people refuse to help the terrorists. A local youth, on condition of anonymity, said that if a jihadi puts an A-47 on your forehead and asks for food, forcing you to help, what would you do?

Now big questions are being raised on this situation. The most important thing is how terrorists from Pakistan attack in such a dense area and then hide. It is believed that these terrorists have strong support from local people. By luring them with huge sums of money, terrorists gain access to routes and other sensitive information about the area. The military has also been suspicious about this for a long time. According to the Times of India, a retired army officer said that without local support, terrorists cannot carry out such attacks. He said that in the recent attacks, the way the terrorists fired from the intended locations and then managed to dodge it and escape, it shows how they are getting local support and guidance.

According to security forces, more than 60 foreign terrorists are currently active in Jammu region. They have trained to fight in the jungle. In addition, they are equipped with all the latest technology. It also carries a satellite phone, thermal imagery, as well as an American M-4 carbine. The timing of the attacks, the isolated area and the night time also confirm the suspicion of massive local support for the terrorists. A security official said that the terrorists were reaching the exact location without using GPS or any other navigation system. This is only possible when they are accompanied by someone who knows every detail. The way the Bhangri firing happened or the Chitragula hill pass attack has proved it. The police have also warned the local people not to support the terrorists.
