Five security personnel, including an Army jawan, were seriously injured in an encounter between armed forces and militants in Dessa area on Monday.
The operation began with a coordinated cordon and search operation at Dhari Gote Urbagi in Desa forest area, jointly launched by the troops of the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of JK Police.
The White Knight Corps said through X on Monday, “Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation was underway by Indian Army and JKP in the general area north of Doda.”
“At around 2100 hrs tonight, contact was established with the terrorists following which heavy exchange of fire took place. Initial reports indicate that our brave jawans have been injured. Additional troops have been moved to the area. The operation is underway,” the post said.
The incident comes after the Indian Army killed three terrorists in an anti-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
There have been several terrorist attacks in the Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir in the last few months. These attacks targeted four places in Kathua, Doda, Reasi and Udhampur districts, resulting in the death of 15 people, including nine pilgrims and six security personnel. Apart from this, 46 people have been injured in these attacks.
