Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that the prime minister's focus during the talks was on energy and fertilizer supply. The summit between Prime Minister Modi and Putin lasted for 2 hours. In this, the two leaders have set a target of 100 billion dollars of business by 2030. PM Modi raised the issue of Indians joining the Russian army, on which Russia assured swift action. The Russian ambassador also later said, “We know this is a concern for the Indian side.” We are very open in discussing this particular matter. We pay a lot of attention to Indian concerns and of course we don't want to see Indians dying on the battlefield. We have never recruited Indians into the Russian army and never do. This particular problem is with agencies, brokers and shady people who mislead Indian citizens in the first place. The foreign secretary said that there is no accurate information about the number of Indians in the Russian army. But the figures that have come out suggest that there were 30 to 35 people out of which 10 have returned to India.
