News of Merkt’s death was announced Tuesday in a statement shared on his Instagram page, which also included a slideshow of snapshots celebrating his life.

“It is with broken hearts that we share that our beloved Hailey has passed away after a courageous fight for her life,” the statement said. “Hailey faced this journey with unimaginable strength, grace and selflessness. Her determination, courage and will to live exceeded every timeline given to her by doctors, and she chose to spend her final moments surrounded by loved ones and doing what she loved most with no regrets.”

“She will always be missed for whatever reason, but she was never boring, always extremely funny, and someone who lived completely in the present moment,” the statement added. “Hailey embraced life with unmatched enthusiasm; her beautiful spirit has touched the lives of countless people.”

“All who knew Hailey will miss her dearly,” the emotional tribute said. “Her laughter, her love and her vivacious spirit have left an indelible mark on our hearts. While we mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on in the lives of all the people she touched. Rest in peace, Hailey.”

After being diagnosed with leukemia, Hailey has been sharing her battle with cancer on social media. In April, she announced that On your GoFundMe page He has been declared “leukemia free”.

An update on his campaign was shared following his death, stating that Merkt died on July 26.

“After a bone marrow transplant, she was told she had nine months to deal with the cancer, but in truth she only had six weeks left when she received the devastating news that the leukemia cells had returned and were growing rapidly,” the update said. “She had so much clarity, independence and grace. She decided she wanted to live every last moment she had to the fullest: being with her loved ones and doing the things she loved.”

He is survived by his mother, Michelle Mercutt, and siblings, Jenny and Kyle.
