BPSC students protest at Bapu Pariksha Centre

BPSC 70th Joint Competitive Preliminary Examination was conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission on 13th December. Around 4 lakh candidates appeared in the exam. The examination was conducted at around 912 centers. After a video of OMR sheet tearing at Bapu exam center went viral, the exam at that center was cancelled. Candidates who appeared in the preliminary examination are now protesting demanding the cancellation of the examination. The candidates demanded that the Examination Commission cancel the 70th Common Competitive Examination held at all centers and re-conduct it. Two days ago, the commission had said that the preliminary examination would not be cancelled. The BPSC Examination Controller issued a statement saying that apart from the canceled examination at Bapu Examination Centre, the preliminary examination will not be conducted again at any centre.

How big is Bapu Exam Center?

Bapu Exam Center is the largest exam center in the country. It is built on five floors and is spread over an area of ​​6 acres. Here around 16 to 20 thousand candidates can take the exam in online and offline mode. Around 12000 candidates appeared for BPSC 7th Prelims exam in this centre.

How much did the test center cost?

The Bapu Examination Center at Patna has been constructed at a cost of around Rs.281.11 crore. It was inaugurated by CM Nitish Kumar on 23 August 2023. Its foundation stone was laid in 2020. The center has 44 large examination halls. CCTV cameras have been installed in all halls for monitoring. A separate center has also been set up to monitor the examinations. Exams can be held at this center every day.

Why are the candidates protesting now?

The protesting candidates say that there is a paper leak at Bapu Center and it should be investigated. Also, the entire examination will be canceled and re-examination will be conducted at all the centres. The candidates have been protesting for 12 days regarding this demand.
