Strict action has been taken in the case of suicide of a class 11 student in Motawada of Lodhika in Rajkot district. Last month, Class 11 commerce student Dharvel Varu committed suicide after being harassed by three teachers. Before committing suicide, Dharvel wrote a suicide note and also recorded a video of himself. However, even after 17 days of filing the complaint, the three teachers are absconding.
He said this by recording a video before committing suicide.
According to the police, Dharvel had written in his suicide note that he was being tortured continuously by three teachers. In the note, she addressed her parents, saying, “Mom and Dad, it wasn’t my fault. I proved to my teachers that I didn’t bring my papers from home, yet they harassed me again and again. Police, if I had not taken this step, I would have tried to explain to Sir that I have not done anything wrong, you all should be happy, watch my video on your mobile.
After the incident, the three teachers fled.
The suicide note and video reveal the unbearable stress and fear that Dharvel faced due to threats from his teachers. On October 20, the Lodhika police swung into action and registered a case against principal Sachin Vyas, Mismi Shah and Vibhuti Joshi. Since the incident, the three teachers are absconding and their arrest is yet to be made. These teachers had filed a pre-arrest bail application in the Gondal court to avoid their arrest, but the court rejected their application.
In this case, Rajkot District Primary Education Officer Dixit Patel has suspended the three teachers. Patel said that a written explanation was sought from the school administration on the incident, but no response has been received so far. “A police case has also been registered against the three teachers. Considering all these aspects, the three have been suspended, and their report has been sent to the state government,” he said. Dharvel’s death has caused grief and anger in the entire region. The student’s family and friends say Dharvel was a bright student, and was repeatedly harassed unnecessarily. The police and education department are investigating the matter.
