Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Wednesday that jailed party chief Imran Khan has given permission to submit written demands to the government to advance the talks.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said last week that if the PTI failed to present its demands in writing at the next meeting, there could be “serious obstacles” in the talks.
The parties started talks last month to end the political deadlock in the country, with two main demands of the PTI.
One of their demands is the release of political prisoners and the other is the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9, 2023 and November 26, 2024.
After meeting with Imran Khan, Gohar Ali Khan said in a conversation with the media today that ‘We will present our two demands in writing although it is not necessary, but we do not want to delay the talks using this as an excuse.
“Imran Khan has given us permission to submit our demands in writing, so we will do so.”
