Tensions are rising in Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Indian Army said that Indian troops deployed under UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon are fully safe, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Information Systems and Coordination) Lt. Gen. Rakesh Kapur said that the Middle Eastern country of Lebanon. Soldiers are being helped in conflict-affected areas. Deployed Indian UN peacekeepers are safe.
Lt Gen Kapur asserted that the Indian troops are strictly following the UN orders and are being closely monitored by the Indian Army leadership. Although India cannot take a unilateral decision to evacuate, contingency plans have been put in place to ensure their safety and evacuation should the situation worsen.
Currently, around 900 Indian troops are deployed in Lebanon under the United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL). Deployed in some of the most volatile regions, these peacekeeping forces represent India’s significant contribution to international peace efforts.
Currently, more than 5,000 Indian troops are deployed in 10 UN missions globally, India has participated in 53 out of 72 UN peacekeeping missions since the program’s inception.
Lt Gen Kapur also highlighted the professionalism and resilience of the Indian soldiers that have led them to stand up to the challenging environment with dignity and dedication.
