New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday criticized the National Education Policy (NEP), called it “”, “Saffron policy“And alleging that its purpose is to promote Hindi rather than the overall development of the country.
“National Education Policy is not a education policy; it is a saffron policy. The policy is made not to develop India but to develop Hindi. We are opposing the policy as it will completely destroy the Tamil Nadu education system,” Stalin said while addressing a rally in Thiruvallur.
He also claimed that NEP does not accept reservation, which he has described social justice“NEP denies assistance to SCS, STS and other backward classes,” he accused during a public meeting.
Stalin further accused the central government of withdrawing the Tamil Nadu funds as the state did not adopt the NEP. “We are asking for your tax share, which we have paid with our efforts. What is the problem with it? Is it appropriate to threaten without issuing funds for the welfare of 43 lakh schools? As we have not accepted NEP, they are refusing to welcome money related to Tamil Nadu. This,” he said.
The point of dispute in the debate on NEP is its Three language formulasWhich can impose Hindi in the state for fear of Tamil Nadu. Stalin had earlier argued that the policy gives preference to Hindi over regional languages, affecting the state’s autonomy and linguistic diversity.
The central government, however, insists that the NEP is designed to encourage multi -languageism and provide flexibility in language education. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has denied claims Hindi impositionSaying that the policy allows states to decide on its favorite languages.
On the issue of delimitation, Stalin alleged that the BJP is trying to increase the number of MPs in the states where it has an impact to strengthen its position. “The BJP is trying to maintain power by winning in the northern states,” he said.
He added, “The BJP is trying to increase the number of MPs in the states of its influence and develop the party. DMK will stop it.”
Stalin also alleged that the BJP wants to destroy the federal structure, saying that “they would never be humble for BJP’s fascism, even if we lose our lives.”
