Washington: US Vice President Kamala Harris has secured enough votes from the Democratic delegates to ensure her candidacy in the presidential election. This officially confirms his candidacy for the Democratic Party. Democratic National Committee Chairman Jamie Harrison made the announcement on Friday. “I am very proud to confirm that Vice President Harris has secured a majority of all delegates to the convention and will be the Democratic Party’s nominee when voting closes on Monday,” Harrison said. Online voting will continue through Monday, but Harris’ campaign crossed the threshold for a majority vote of delegates on Friday.

First black woman candidate

Kamala Harris will become the first black woman presidential candidate on a major party ticket in US history. “I’m proud to be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States,” Kamala Harris said in a tweet on social media platform X after receiving enough votes to run. I will officially accept the nomination next week. This campaign is about people who are inspired by the love of the country and come together to fight for their best.

Required votes to be obtained in two days

The nomination process for Kamala Harris was rushed after the re-election of President Joe Biden. Delegates to the Democratic National Convention began voting Thursday via secure email, which will remain open until Monday evening, but Harris won enough votes for a majority in just two days. Harris has not yet chosen his running mate for vice president. He is expected to interview the candidates later in the week. Official nominations are expected to be finalized by August 7.
