Kevin Thalellwell, director of the outgoing Everton of Football, is ready to join Rangers, Sky sports news Understands
Gars CEO Patrick Stewart has been looking for a new sports director from February and is set to leave for 51 years, who moved from New York Red Bulls in 2022 to the Mercyssed Club.
Thelwell – who has also worked in Volves, Derby County and Preston North End – confirmed in March that he would be departing toffee at the end of his contract, amidst several structural changes in the club.
During its three years in the Premier League organization, Thalewell has taken care of the difficult period including PSR rules, points deduction, fighting against allegations and struggle with managerial changes.
However, he has seen the club receiving £ 226M in transfer fees, while six transfer windows spend just £ 145m. For reference, nine premiere league sides spent more than £ 100 meters in the previous summer window.
Despite struggling out of region and circumstances, due to lack of expenses, he is ready to depart with Everton on the increase under David Moyes and enter a new stadium in the next season.
It is understood that Thalewell has recently met the statistics of Senior Hebrox, who visited the club facilities in Glasgow.
Rangers are designed by American investors to close on a deal to get a controlled stake in the Ibro with health tycoon Andrew Cavanagh and 49ers enterprises.
Why are Rangers appointing a sports director?
CEO Stewart launched the “root-bound review of the entire football department” in January, as it saw to bring back success in the club.
It was confirmed by the Ibrox chief that a sports director was appointed, identified by external reviews and has since been working on the search.
Rangers have won just one league title in 14 sessions, and have dismissed three managers since 2022 – with Stewart that the appointment will “have the responsibility for the entire football operating in the entire club”.
He said that the appointment would be “an experienced football person who would be responsible for all aspects of the football club to ensure that they are working together towards completing our entirely included plan.”
Rangers are working without a sports director as Ross Wilson left for Nottingham Forest in April 2023.
