New Delhi: Police Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a woman postgraduate intern doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, a senior official said on Saturday. He said the man was an outsider who had free access to various departments of the hospital.
A senior police officer said, “We have arrested one person who is an outsider. His activities are very suspicious and he appears to be directly involved in the crime.”
It is being said that the victim was a second year student of the Chest Medicine department and was on duty on Thursday night when the incident took place.
His half-naked body was found in the seminar hall of the government hospital with injury marks on it.
The police also questioned two intern doctors on Friday night in connection with the ongoing investigation.
The victim’s father has alleged that his daughter was raped and murdered inside the hospital and an attempt is being made to hide the truth.
According to the police report, the preliminary post-mortem report confirmed that the woman doctor was sexually assaulted before her death.
