Lauren Price will make the first defense of her WBA Welterweight World Championship against Bexi Mateus on December 14, live on sky sports,

They will fight on the top bill of Natasha Jonas’ IBF and WBC welterweight title unification against Ivana Habazin.

If Price and Jonas are both victorious in their respective battles, they could be setting themselves up for an all-British unification conflict in 2025.

Earlier this year, Price defeated former undisputed champion Jessica McCaskill to win the WBA crown. Price, Olympic gold medalist in 2021 She was virtually perfect when she ousted McCaskill in front of her home fans in Cardiff in May.

The first Welsh boxer to win Olympic gold, Price again wrote her name in the record books by becoming Wales’s first women’s world champion in her seventh professional fight.

Lauren Price captured the IBO, WBA and Ring Magazine welterweight world titles with a dominant win over Jessica McCaskill.

The 30-year-old from Ystrad Mynach has yet to lose a round as a professional and is eyeing this first defense and eventual welterweight dominance.

Mateus, the WBA’s No. 5 ranked welterweight contender, is also undefeated in the professional ranks, winning all but one of his seven bouts by knockout.

The 29-year-old from Bogota is fighting out of her native Colombia for the first time as she aims to upset Price.

The WBA champion said: “I’m excited to finish what has been a big year for me by defending my belt. I have full respect for Mateus. I will prove that I am the best in this division and I will not let anything or anyone stand in my way of becoming undisputed.”

Boxer founder and CEO Ben Shalom said: “It’s a big night for the women’s welterweight division with three world champions in action. Natasha Jonas is back in her hometown for a win in a unification fight against Ivana Habazin and Lauren Price defends her world title against undefeated contender Bexi Mateus. The undisputed fight continues.

“If Natasha and Lauren both win on December 14, it will set the stage for a big ‘Battle of Britain’ world title unification match next year.”

On the undercard, Ireland’s undefeated Stephen McKenna will face English champion Lee Cutler in an exciting super-welterweight clash.

McKenna last time out surprised fans with a three-round fight against Joe Laws at Barnsley’s Oakwell Stadium in August. Both men hit the canvas in the first round before McKenna applied the pressure, dropping Laws three times via stoppage to maintain his undefeated record.
