A man was shot and killed by officers after he was seen repeatedly stabbing his mother on a residential street in Southern California, police said … the entire chaotic scene was captured on video.
The Irvine Police Department released body cam footage of an officer-involved shooting last month … in which they said they shot and killed a 37-year-old man. Paul Montazer,
In the video, two officers arrive on the scene – pointing guns at a man who is bent over a woman’s body on the sidewalk. One of the officers says on his radio that the man is actively stabbing him … before he yells at him to put the knife down.
The man, police say, is Paul, who stops short of attacking the woman with a knife — later identified as his 72-year-old mother. Parveen Montazer …and you can see him begin to run toward an officer, who fires multiple shots at him, killing him.
According to the 911 call that led to police arriving on the scene, Montajer and her mother got into an argument … when Montajer chased her mother down the street with a knife.
The neighbor who called 911 told officers Paul was trying to get his mother back inside … yelling at her.
The 911 caller said a good-hearted bystander tried to jump in and stop Montajer from attacking his mother … but was pushed away.
Montazer and her mother were both pronounced dead at the scene.
