New Delhi: Large -scale landslides killed travel routes in North Sikkim late Thursday night, Lachung -Chikanthang Road and MunshiThang on Lima/Bob, North Sikkim.
This area is constantly watching rainfall, increases concerns over road safety and access.
While the route to Chungthang remains technically open, officials have advised that it is unsafe for use at night due to ongoing heavy rains.
As a precautionary measure, no travel permit to North Sikkim will be released for tomorrow. All the permits already released permit stands were canceled, Sonam Dicku Bhutia, Superintendent of Police, Mangan District.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation as the rain obstructs relief and repair efforts. Passengers and tourists have been advised to avoid the area until the next notice.
