Saharanpur. People in the country and the world are busy preparing for the New Year celebrations. New Year is going to start in two days. Earlier, Maulana Qari Ishaq Gowda, patriarch of Jamiat Dawat-e-Muslimeen in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur, appealed to Muslims not to celebrate New Year on Sunday. Maulana Qari Ishaq Gowda said that the religion of Islam does not allow celebrating the New Year. All Muslims are requested to try to avoid things like parties, music, dancing and fireworks.

He said, “Remember, you think the New Year is for celebrating. Instead, think that a year has passed and we are very close to death. So we need to do more good deeds. We need to do our best.” There is a need to atone for sins. Islam does not allow you to celebrate New Year.

He also said that celebrating New Year is an un-Islamic culture, which “we should avoid adopting”. Fireworks, music and extravagance not only create chaos in the society but also cause displeasure of Allah. Maulana especially instructed the youth not to waste their time in activities which are harmful from religious and social point of view.

Maulana appealed to Muslims to understand Islamic teachings and adapt their lives accordingly. He said that we should seek forgiveness from Allah and try to live according to Islamic culture and principles.
