Main Puri: A family-to-family battle is taking place in the by-elections to the Karhal assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district. Tej Pratap Yadav from the Saifai family is in the fray, while the BJP has fielded Anujesh Yadav. He appears to be Akhilesh’s brother-in-law through a distant relationship. Meanwhile, Aparna Yadav has said that following the family religion, she will either campaign for her nephew or favor her sister-in-law on behalf of the party.

Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger daughter-in-law Aparna said this while talking to a news channel. When asked who among her nephew (Tej Pratap) and brother-in-law (Anujesh) she would support in the Karhal by-election? On this she says- her nephew Tej Pratap is contesting election from Karhal. The BJP candidate in Karhal is his brother-in-law.

Aparna Yadav made it clear that as far as campaigning is concerned, the party has not yet asked her to campaign there. If asked to campaign, she will campaign there too. He further said that in-laws have to fulfill their responsibilities.

Voting on nine assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh will be held on November 13 and the results will be declared on November 23. Mainpuri’s Kurhal was the hottest seat among the nine seats. Akhilesh Yadav won the 2022 UP assembly elections from here. Akhilesh resigned after becoming MP in 2024.

Therefore, a by-election is being held on this seat. While SP has given ticket to Tej Pratap from Karhal, BJP has made his cousin Anujesh Yadav its candidate. The by-election on the Karhal seat has become a dynasty versus a dynasty. Shivpal Yadav and Dharmendra have hit out at Anujesh Yadav and talked about ending their relationship.
