Experts at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi have advised people to maintain vitamin D levels in the body amid air pollution in the city. He suggested this in view of the insufficient amount of sunlight reaching the ground through the haze. Sunlight is the best source of vitamin D. AIIMS expert Professor Dr. Ravinder Goswami said that people of all ages can consider taking vitamin D during the winter season as advised by their doctors, and if cholecalciferol is taken in doses such as 60,000 IU, vitamin D levels in the body can improve. may be less. It can be taken without knowing.

What did the AIIMS doctor suggest?
Dr. Goswami added that active forms such as calcitriol should not be taken, as they are meant to treat kidney diseases. Cholecalciferol is good and most economical. Dr. Goswami said that the department’s research has found normal levels of vitamin D among Delhiites who work outside their homes.

Dr Goswami of Delhi AIIMS said, ‘When assessing the vitamin D status of people working outside such as hawkers or roadside vendors, petrol pump workers, auto-rickshaw drivers, traffic policemen and gardeners, it was found that that those who do not have adequate exposure to sunlight. Vitamin D levels between 10 am and 2 pm were found to be around 20 ng/ml. The expert said that people working indoors were found to be deficient in vitamin D without external supplements. AIIMS Delhi researcher Dr Soma Saha said that vitamin D deficiency in construction workers is related to prolonged exposure to sunlight.
