“There’s a real art to moving in basketball and in terms of the game, and I think it’s a real valuable tool in life as well,” Cone said. “Whether we win or lose, we have to continue to move forward and focus on the next game or the next thing.
“We’re not going to focus on, ‘We could have,’ or, ‘We should have,’ the bottom line is this is where we are right now, and this is what we’ll deal with,” Cone said. ,
Japeth Aguilar had 22 points and eight rebounds, while Maverick Ahamnisi had 15 and 11. Stephen Holt added 11 points, and Scottie Thompson and rookie RJ Abarrientos each had eight points to help Brownlee’s heroics and get the Kings back on track. A bitter overtime loss two nights ago.
Brownlee, who made all of his baskets exclusively from or near the perimeter, also had nine rebounds, five assists and five blocks – his layup with 20 ticks to go proved to be the final nail in the Beermen’s coffin.
“We had some uncertain moments in the third quarter when we came out of halftime, but we recovered thanks to this guy. Thanks to this player we were successful in winning once again. And thank you to this guy, and thank you to this guy,” Cone said of Brownlee, who joined him in a post-game interview.
“That was basically the story [and] I thought we played better defense tonight,” he added.
Import EJ Anosik was equally steady for San Miguel, scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds. However, the local Beermen were not as efficient as they were in Game 2, with CJ Perez finishing with only 13 points and Marcio Lassiter and Jun Mar Fajardo holding on for 12 points each.
Terrence Romo, the Caviteño who was big in the previous contest, finished with only eight.
Both teams will have a two-day break before Wednesday’s Game 4 at Smart Araneta Coliseum, where Cone and his charges will get a chance to put a real chokehold on their sister team.
“We are trying our best to push through June March and work hard,” Cone said. “We wish they didn’t have to take an extra day off, but it’s something we need too, so I think we’ll both cherish it. We will try to regain our body.
“I know Justin will love it, and hopefully he’ll go into it fresh.
“I think it is important to take some extended breaks because it keeps the quality of play high. When you can come in and play fresh, it keeps the quality of play high. Sometimes quality can drop off when both teams get tired. So I like the fact that we’re getting a few days off,” he said. inquiry
