Today, a new phase of development is starting in Ladakh as well. The construction work of Sankan La Tunnel has been completed, through which Ladakh will be connected to the country in all seasons throughout the year. This tunnel will open new avenues of new possibilities for the development of Ladakh.
‘Ladakh’s budget has been increased to Rs 6 thousand crores’
PM Modi said that I remember that many of our people from Kargil region were stuck in Iran at the time of Corona, I made a lot of efforts on a personal level to bring them back. He was brought from Iran and kept in Jaisalmer, when fully satisfactory reports were received from the health point of view, he was taken to his home. We are satisfied that we were able to save many lives. In the last 5 years we have increased the budget of Ladakh from Rs 1100 crore to Rs 6000 crore. That means it has increased almost 6 times. Today this money is being used in the development of the people of Ladakh, increasing the facilities here, roads, electricity, water, education, power supply, employment and the landscape of Ladakh is also changing in every direction.
Prime Minister made defense reform a top priority
Prime Minister Modi said that work on the 13-km-long Zojila Tunnel is also underway, its construction will also increase all-weather connectivity on National Highway No. 1. We have set extraordinary targets for development in the border areas. The Border Roads Organization has worked with unprecedented speed to meet such goals. BRO has completed more than 300 infra projects in the last 3 years, ranging from development work in Ladakh to tunnels in the Northeast. Today’s global conditions are different than before, so our military must be modern in its weapons and equipment as well as in its methods and systems of operation. Therefore, the country needed major reforms in the defense sector for decades, the army was also demanding the same, but unfortunately it was not given much importance earlier. In the last 10 years, we have made defense reform the first priority of the defense sector. Due to these reforms, our forces have become more capable today. Becoming self-reliant.

PM Modi said that 25 percent of defense research and development has been earmarked for the private sector. India’s defense output has now crossed Rs 1.25 lakh crore. India was once known for importing arms. Our forces have listed more than 5,000 weapons and military equipment and have decided that these 5,000 items will no longer be imported. I congratulate the Army leadership for this. I would also like to commend the Indian Armed Forces for the reforms in the defense sector, our forces have taken many bold decisions over the years.
