The Crown Prosecution Service is reviewing a file of evidence relating to a Premier League footballer who was arrested on suspicion of rape.
The 30-year-old man is accused of sexual offenses between 2021 and 2023. The Metropolitan Police have now passed their file to the CPS and the player is being investigated while inquiries continue.
The footballer has denied the allegations.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Met officers are investigating following multiple reports of alleged sexual offenses between 2021 and 2023.
“A full file has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and detectives will continue to work with prosecutors.
“Those who have come to the police continue to receive support from Met officers.”
The player, who has not been named, was first arrested in July 2022 over rape allegations made by a 20-year-old woman.
While in custody, he was arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a second woman in April 2021 and June that year.
The Metropolitan Police said it would not take any further action in relation to the alleged incident in June 2021 because the relevant legislation was not in place at the time.
In February 2023, police questioned the man under caution over an alleged sexual offense in Barnet, north London, in February 2022.
This pertains to the third complainant and was reported in July 2022, police said.
Authorities interviewed the Premier League footballer again under caution in November 2024.
The CPS will now decide how to take action based on the evidence file provided by the Metropolitan Police. It is not known when the decision will be taken.
