Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is making every possible effort to reduce her country's dependence on China. She has returned to Dhaka after ending her trip to Beijing midway. Hours after canceling the visit, she said she would prefer India over China in completing the $1 billion Teesta River development project on the Bangladesh side.
Why does Hasina want to deal with India?
Hasina Wajid told reporters that China is ready, but I want India to do this project. She gave this answer when asked whether she would go with India or China for the Teesta project. He said that both the countries want to work on this agreement but he prefers to work with India.
Hasina Wajid said that time will decide with which country we make this agreement, but if India does it, it will give more priority, because India has blocked the waters of Teesta. She explains that in India they can get what they need most. While China cannot do that.

Sheikh Hasina hoped that China would give her a loan of Rs 4 lakh crore. But Bangladesh was shocked to know about the loan given by China. China was only offering him a loan of Rs 900 crore. It is being said that Sheikh Hasina was unhappy with this and due to these reasons she ended the Yatra before the scheduled time.
According to Bangladesh's foreign ministry, Dhaka was not happy with the offer it received from China, as Dhaka expected more. Bangladesh Prime Minister had expected a long talk with Xi Jinping but only a short one. Apart from this, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi did not even meet Sheikh Hasina. Not only this, the Chinese media also did not pay much attention to Sheikh Hasina's visit.

Before visiting China, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh visited India. She has visited India twice this year, both in June. He attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony and later came to Delhi on a bilateral official visit. This was the first visit by a foreign leader after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister for the third time.
Meanwhile, he last visited China in July 2019. Relations between China and Bangladesh have been cordial. But the growing proximity of India and Bangladesh is making China uneasy. He gives loans to Bangladesh just to get his share. China is Bangladesh's largest trading partner. Although earlier it belonged to India.
