Scotland head coach Steve Clarke says that there is a possibility of 75 percent after the 2026 World Cup.
Former West Brom, Reading and Kilmarnock Manager have already led Scotland to continuously European Championships, and their next goal will maintain its place at the top level of the Nations League with two-foot play-off against Greece this month.
Their focus will then turn to gain qualification in the Men’s World Cup before 1998 – Greece, Belarus and either Portugal or Denmark are lying on the way to Scotland.
Clarke – who took over from Alex McCish in 2019 – is out of contract after a tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico next year, and the 61 -year -old admitted that he could not renew the deal.
“I will go to percentage – 75 percent,” he said, when asked how much he was asked after the World Cup campaign. “This is something that I have not spoken to my owners.
“But at the moment, I am happy to run my contract down. And I want to go to America. This is the bottom line. I want to help this group of players enter the World Cup in America.”
Despite the success of his Euro, Scotland 2022 missed after playing Ukraine in the Qatar World Cup – and Clarke admitted that his future would be determined in the next 12 months.
He said: “I have still got 10 big games this year so that I can carry forward my future.
“I have decided that I want to run the contract down. Obviously, if we have a great year and reach the World Cup and do well in the World Cup, maybe someone will persuade me to live.
“Whether I stay here or whether I go somewhere else, I can determine my future next year. I think it’s too early to talk about me or talk about me.”
Asked if they still have ambitions to return to club management, former St. Mirren and Chelsea’s defender said: “I am always open to other suggestions.
“I have enjoyed being the head coach of Scotland. I am firm to enjoy being the head coach of Scotland this year. We will see where he takes us.”
